When something is built, we never consider the aspect of what if we don't need it anymore in the future. And what if there comes a time when what was built has to be left in the same state. The following are some such examples where residential or public places have become desolate due to accidents or time and now present a scene of ruins.

1) Houses filled with sand

The houses in the Namib Desert in Kolmanskoe, Namibia, tell the story of a bygone era when diamonds were mined and as the diamonds ran out, people migrated and the area was eventually deserted.

2) It used to be a public school.

This school named Willow Grove is located at the bottom of Del Hollow Lake in the US state of Tennessee. It was once part of a thriving community, but in 1942 the government bought the land and forced families from their homes to build a dam.

3) Decades of sunken aircraft

This is the wreckage of a P-38 plane that crashed on the coast of Wales. The US used it extensively as a fighter and tactical bomber during WWII.

4) This path seems quite deep.
This creepy staircase is inside the abandoned Flock Tower in Vienna. They were used as anti-aircraft gun blockhouse towers built by Nazi Germany during WWII. The site also served as air raid shelters.

5) The roller coaster.
This roller coaster park that looks like something out of a scary sci-fi movie is located in Nara Dreamland Park, Japan. It was inspired by Disneyland in California. The roller coaster park operated for 45 years until it closed in 2005.

6) Deserted hotels.
Although this wide and giant sculptured staircase looks like a temple, it actually leads to an old abandoned hotel that has been derelict for years.
